Dear Friends,
We're looking forward to this weekend at the Oak Grove Folk Music
Festival in Verona, VA. It's a distinctive festival in that it has
only 200 seats and yet, year after year, has a lineup of some of
the top acts in the country. We helped found the festival and thus
have a special place in our hearts for it. We never dreamed forty
years ago that it would still be around much less that we'd be on
the bill. Of interest to us is there were four acts at the first
festival, one of whom was John McCutcheon. This year there are
eleven or twelve acts booked, one of whom is John McCutcheon. It'll
be fun hanging with our old pal for a few hours. A late addition
to the lineup is Scott Miller, a phenomenal writer and performer
and a songwriting buddy of ours, and he'll join Bill Kirchen, Sophie Wellington
and, new to us, Tellico, Mary Fahl and Jakob's Ferry Stragglers .
on the list of performers.
We're leading split lives these days as our house in Middlebrook
is up for sale, which means we have to keep it looking good. So
we're in constant touch with the country life we led for so many
decades, while at the same time enjoying our first summer in the
city. Luckily there are no regrets about our decision to make a
change in domiciles. And, if you know of anyone who's interested
in a great, old house and some acreage in the beautiful Shenandoah
Valley of Virginia, we've got just the place. Here's a Zillow link:

On the personal front, Linda had to go back for her second ankle
surgery in May so she endured another eight-week stint on the knee
walker. She's been off of it for almost two weeks and is now walking
in her ankle boot with the aid of a cane. We're meeting with her
doctor next Monday and will find out how the healing process is
going. We're feeling good about it.
We're getting some songwriting done and, as usual, have been going
to our CD collection for some inspiration. Lately we've found it in
two new CDs by some old tried and true performers, Ry Cooder and John
Prine. Here are two guys in their 70s who haven't lost a creative
step. It is wonderful to see and, even better, to hear. And then,
as always, there's Leonard Cohen. We're always finding new stuff
in his songs.
Bumper Sticker Of The Month: Apathy: I'm neither for nor against it.
Hope this finds you well and busy and that we'll see you at one of
the stops along the way.
Your pals,
Robin and Linda
