Robin and Linda Williams: Summer News & Fall DatesHey Folks,"Done laid around, done stayed around, this old town too long/Summer's almost gone and winter's coming on." We think about these lines as we watch the summer of '23 fly by - and about Robin's father. A month or so before he died at the age of 89, Robin called him up and asked how he was doing. "Oh, my life is like a roll of toilet paper, " he replied. Knowing full well that a joke was coming, Robin bit anyway. "Oh yeah, how's that?" He answered, "the closer I get to the end, the faster it goes." Robin's father was observant, and he always knew the value of toilet humor. Leaving that feeble attempt at show-biz hilarity behind there's not too much to report other than Linda continuing her quest for total bionic womanhood. She had another shoulder surgery which required us to cancel some shows and stay off the road for a few weeks. Fortunately, the surgery took place after we'd shared the bill with Garrison Keillor, for a few nights in July. GK is like no other entertainer and, when we're not standing in front of the mics singing with him, we're just like the audience members, sitting on the sidelines, listening, and being totally entertained by a killer performer. We feel fortunate to get a big dose of Garrison every now and then. But now it's time for us to ready ourselves for what it is we do, get practiced up and go out and sing for people. We'll make some fun stops this fall and we've got some new songs we're looking forward to singing. We're hoping to see you at one of the shows along the way. Bumper Sticker of the Month: Don't judge folks by their relatives. Hope this finds you well and busy. Keep on the sunny side and remember, live music makes you smarter.
Your pals,
