Robin and Linda Williams: February Escapades

Dear Friends,

It's a beautiful, sunny and cold day in Middlebrook, VA with a bright blue sky and seven inches of fresh white snow, a perfectly clear day. Luckily we haven't had to go anywhere and we've spent the day getting a lot of small things done.

We getting ready to head to St. Paul, MN are excited to be part of the live Cinecast of "A Prairie Home Companion" this Thursday. You can go to their website (www.prairiehome.org) and see if it will be coming to a theater near you. It could be the perfect way to cure the Thursday blues. There'll be a fine cast of regular Prairie Home folks along with Elvis Costello. Who'd have thought we'd ever get to do a show with him. Of course we said the same thing about Chet Atkins, Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carpenter and many other wonderful performers. We'll just do our work and be our usual charming selves. That's all we can do.

From there we'll scoot right back to Staunton, VA to perform at a new music venue, "Mockingbird," on Friday. We'll be flying, of course, and praying for good weather. Saturday we'll head down to Marion, VA to tape a performance for the PBS series, "Song of the Mountain" with Kathy Mattea.

The following weekend we'll head out to the Midwest for some gigs in Indiana. We usually drive through Indiana so we're looking forward to having a chance to stop for a few days.

On a serious note, on Saturday evening Robin's 89 year old father passed away. He had been failing for a while so, while it was not unexpected, his death was still a shock. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by the many whose lives he so profoundly touched. He was a beloved pastor for over 40 years at churches in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. He lived a good, long, full life and the family is grateful that his passing was peaceful and without struggle. A memorial service will be conducted for him on February 9 in Dallas. TX where he and his wife, Eunice, have lived since l972 and where he served his last two churches. We'll look forward to gathering with family and friends to celebrate his exemplary life. We will carry on with our plans for this week and beyond with him in our hearts. Murphy Williams would have wanted it no other way.

We hope to see you at one of the stops along the way.

Your pals, Robin and Linda
