Robin and Linda Williams: Virtual Valentines's Day Concert

Dear Friends,
Greetings from Robin and Linda.

It's a quintessential, cruddy, winter day in the Shenandoah Valley, 32 degrees and alternating between rain and ice, causing us to spread sand and salt on the porches and sidewalks and halting any plans we had to go out into the world. But, in spite of the weather, we're doing really good here - for a number of reasons. The first is we have received our first COVID-19 vaccination and are scheduled for our second shot at the end of next week. While the experience wasn't what you'd call fun, we couldn't help but notice that everyone in that huge room was in a good mood. Are we the only ones to have noticed that there are a lot of people these days who are glad to be old? We're not expecting there to be a huge difference in how well deal with life after our second Pfizer shot but we can't help but feel that things will be a little less intense. The doctor who gave us our shot was fully vaccinated, had been for a few weeks, and went on and on about how great it was to be able to go see movies again. While that does sound good, we're really looking forward to the day when folks can go back to attending concerts.

Reason number two for us being in good moods is we have finally finished a new CD. The thirteen songs have been recorded and mixed but there is still a good amount of work to be done. The songs have to be sequenced and then mastered, after which comes the process of releasing the CD, which we will do ourselves. This, our 24th CD, will be our first self-release and we are presently knee deep into the learning curve of getting that done. Luckily, we have friends who are quite willing to pass on their experiences and advice in such matters, so we're standing on solid ground. It's a good feeling to be moving on with the project and, don't you worry, you'll be hearing more about it soon!!

Reason number three for our high spirits is, tomorrow, Valentine's Day, 2021, we'll be joining Tom Paxton and Catie Curtis for a John McCutcheon virtual concert. The music promises to be exceptional and John has done a great job of including seven prominent venues who have provided us all with places to play over the years. We are pleased to be able to give a little back and help support them. The show is at 4:00 p.m. EST and you can go to https://www.folkmusic.com/feb-14-2021.html for all the information.

This show was a watershed moment for us in that, instead of just turning on our iPhone and trusting Apple technology for our contribution (which truly seemed like rocket science a few months ago) ,we advanced our practical scientific knowledge and used an outboard microphone and camera which, to our eyes and ears, improved the quality. For some of you tech-heads the old saying, "put down those wheelbarrows, Robin and Linda, you don't know anything about technology" must come to mind. But to us it was a big deal. If you attend the show, and we hope you will, let us know what you think. And a big shoutout needs to go to our friend Cathy Fink whose guiding hand, expertise and patience was invaluable.

Bumper Sticker Of The Month: "Freedom" is just chaos with better lighting.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Your pals,
Robin and Linda
